AOCELYN

(Igloolik)

In 2018, Aocelyn was featured on the Ajungi album – her first experience in the professional music industry. Aocelyn has since recorded her debut album, Lovely, which was released in November of 2021. Her songs are about hope, self-esteem, rooting for outcasts, never giving up, and breaking the stigma around mental illness.

IVAANA

(Aasiaat, Kalaallit Nunaat)

Ivaana is a singer-songwriter. She’s been singing her whole life, and is originally a member of the Olsen Kids. Ivaana slowly started writing her own songs about five years ago, where the songs are calm and come from the heart. With a soft voice and down to earth melody is it easy for the audience to connect with the songs she is playing. Ivaana released her very first EP in November 2021, and recently was awarded as the Talent of the Year, 2022, from the Koda Awards.

MIESHA & THE SPANKS

(Calgary, Alberta)

Miesha Louie is a mixed-Secwépemc artist living in Treaty 7 Territory, and The Spanks are the many drummers who’ve stood beside her on stage. Sean Hamilton is her latest and longest partner, and together they’ve spent the last 5 years building and embellishing their garage-rock sound into something almost too big for two people to contain. Deeply influenced by proto-punk classics like The Runaways, MC5, Stooges, and 90s riot grrrl/grunge like L7 and The Gits, Miesha & The Spanks conjure an energy that hits you in the face, throwing you into a world of killer riffs and sweaty gig venues. And it’s in those sweaty spaces that Miesha & The Spanks thrive, fresh off the highway, out of the van, and onto the stage.

MIKE PAUL KUEKUATSHEU

(Mashteuiatsh, Quebec)

Mike Paul is an Ilnu singer-songwriter, speaker and storyteller born on the shores of Lake Pekuakami in Mashteuiatsh. The friendly Wolverine is back in force with his 3rd album "Ashuapmushuan" (where we watch the moose). Guided by the river and the spirit of the winds, his voice resounds in the universe for the protection of the living on assi (earth) and for the pride of the thousand-year-old culture of his Ilnu people of hunter-gatherers. The recipient of the Impulsion CALQ 2019 offers us a magnificent innovative album with folk-rock sounds in the Ilnu, French and English language that takes us on a journey to the heart of Nutshimit (inland) and the myths and legends of the First Peoples.

LOGAN & LAYLA STAATS

(Six Nations Reserve & Brantford, Ontario)

Born on the Six Nations Reserve and raised in the small ghost town of Brantford, Ontario – Logan & Layla Staats performing and touring together make an incredible duo. Logan started writing and performing music in his early teens. From a young age, Logan’s haunting and distinct voice has won him multiple opportunities to share the stage with acts like Buffy Sainte-Marie, Keith Secola and Mumford and Sons.
