Alianait will be holding a drive-in concert in Tarr Inlet to celebrate the weekend around National Indigenous Peoples Day.
AASIVA
Colleen Nakashuk, who performs as Aasiva, is a young Inuktitut songwriter and exciting addition to Nunavut’s flourishing indie music scene, one that is quickly gathering momentum and attention on the national stage.
Aasiva’s sound, airy and lively, is shaped by her melodious voice set against playful ukulele. With Inuktitut lyrics and delicate throat singing elements interwoven throughout her songs,
Her music offers a fresh, buoyant and distinctive twist on indie folk. Her second album, Niriunniq, is scheduled to drop on July 9th, you can find all released singles off her album wherever you get your tunes!
BRENDA MONTANA
Brenda Montana has a personality which is as bubbly and uplifting as her music. Despite extreme adversity at an early age, Brenda has always moved forward, and continues to promote a message of hope and love. She is a proud Inuk, and often pays homage to her culture in her musical and visual styles.
Her sound is focused on themes of optimism, resilience, and support. In 2020 she released her first single, a Christmas collaboration with Joey Nowyuk and she is currently working on her debut EP, scheduled for release in 2022.
