David Kuksuk is one of the key members of The Arviat Band, a group that has played at countless festivals all over Nunavut, and Northern Quebec for over 20 years. He has a unique sound and is a great performer!

Alpha5 hit the scene this year with a double win at the 2019 Qilaut songwriting competition. They are based in Naujaat and comprise of (Dave Kaunak, Craig Nanordluk, Troy Alakkanuaq, Albert Amautinuar, Joshua Nanorak). They write and record original songs and this is the first time they’re featured on the Alianait stage.

Siku Rojas is a non-binary artist from Iqaluit, Nunavut. Siku’s new work has heavily been influenced from their experience at the solidarity actions taken place at the Legislative Building in Victoria BC in support of the Wet’suwet’en people and can be placed under the category of activist art. Inspiration comes from life experiences and their inspiration leans toward themes of identity such as their Indigeneity or sexuality. Their work tries to bring awareness and normality towards the topics of LGBTQ2+ people and the injustice many Indigenous peoples face throughout Canada in hopes to create social change through art.
