Live from the virtual stage is a double bill of Iqaluit awesomeness! Tune in to hear Iqaluit rapper FXCKMR return to the Alianait stage, followed by the Arctic Soul heavyweights Josh Q for the second instalment of our Northern Concert Series.
Mister Lee is no stranger to the Alianait stage but this will be the first time performing under the moniker FXCKMR. He’s been making headlines since last years Nunavut Music Week, where he spoke with Tom Power during a live recording of Q and performed at Floechella. In June he opened for the Jerry Cans and in October he released the album 1997 that has seen play on radio stations across Canada. Fader magazine has referred to his music as “songs simultaneously party-ready and dripping with darkness” and of his Floechella performance, Ben Rayner, a music critic with the Toronto Star described his rhymes as “slippery…hardbitten and altogether eerie”. We are excited to let you decide for yourself!
See him: Live from the CBC studio
Josh Q is one of the staples of the Nunavut music scene. He have been performing, touring and promoting Nunavut music since the inception of his band, the Tradeoffs, and he is not slowing down anytime soon. Last summer the Tradeoffs crisscrossed Canada and the States with dates at Hillside Festival, Americana Festival, the NAC and Aqpik Jam…and so many others. Arctic Soul, the unique brand pioneered by Josh Q & the Tradeoffs, brings you to the edge of your seat and sends chills down your spine. This Friday you’ll be able to feel the power of his voice right in your living room, so turn down the lights and get ready for some smokey vocals from the North.
